If you’re reading this you’re probably interested in sustainability and most definitely literate. Hopefully you also know about SPARKcon, “The Triangle’s annual creative explosion” of arts, ideas, and all-around fascinating people held in downtown Raleigh and going on right now. You may have also heard that we’re partnering up to feature The JouleBug Challenge, a free competition to green up SPARKcon and to give us an excuse to give away a Kindle Fire HD.
Oh you haven’t heard about The JouleBug Challenge? Step right this way to read all about it and see a .gif of Ron Swanson giggling over and over. Go ahead and read it! We’ll wait.
(Man this is taking a long time. Did I turn off the stove? Of course I did; I care about conserving energy.)
Oh hey! Welcome back. So now you know that we designed a limited edition Badge for SPARKconners to earn this weekend just for doing simple sustainable things like using the refilling water stations around downtown, drinking local beer, or using smarter transit options to get to and from events.
We’re also featuring an ecoSPARK Pin to highlight the creatively awesome (awesomely creative?) efforts of various SPARKs. You can earn it by checking out at least two events from the list below, and anyone who earns the SPARKbug Badge this weekend is eligible to win a Kindle Fire HD.
What are you waiting for? download the free iPhone app and get your sustainability on this weekend. Happy SPARKing!

Map Your Ride | Fayetteville and Martin St.
An Interactive Mapping Project! We’re taking over an intersection in the middle of SPARKcon to create a mini-urban environment based on location and transportation, but we need YOU to make it a reality. The more people that take part, the more our building block city will grow!

Rival Skateboarding is organizing wheelSPARK for the SPARKcon festival. This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever! We have teamed up with musicSPARK and graffitiSPARK for one messy collaboration. Also, local artists Morgan Beeson from The Vintage Bee and Chad Shooter will be upcycling used skateboards live into chairs and jewelry. We will also have a kid’s zone where younger ones can try out their skills on a mini skate park for fingerboards provided by vitaminwater.
